Southeast Asia is Calling

We’ve had several great adventures in SE Asia over the years covering Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia and now we now have our sights set on the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

This will primarily be an island hopping adventure with the hopes of finding lots of chill beach time and a good mix of cultural and natural experiences.

Considering the Philippines has 7,641 islands, Indonesia over 17,000 and Malaysia over 870 there will be no shortage of choices! The challenge will be trying to not cover too much.

“Chill” is the operative word here.

We will essentially wing it over the next 4 months with a plan of 6 weeks in Philippines, 4 weeks in Malaysia and finally 7 weeks in Indonesia.

The only commitment we have is a private excursion on a traditional wooden Klotok boat that will take us along the Sekonoyer River into Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan, Borneo. We’ll have 3 nights and 4 days of wildlife and primate viewing including the Bornean orangutan. This is has been on our “Bucket List” for some time.

We have our Philippines 59 day visa and we don’t need a visa for Malaysia so now all we have to do is work on getting our 60 day eVisa for Indonesia. We have lots of time for that. We’ve registered with the Indonesia Immigration System so fingers crossed things will go smoothly.

Next stop Manila arriving 05:30 Sunday January 18th after a published 14 1/2 hour travel time on Philippines Airlines.
